The Moon family, a pioneer timber family from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, came to Sandpoint in the early 1900's. Susan came from Carmel, California another lovely part of the world, to Sandpoint in 1968. Susan and her late husband, L.G. "Bud" Moon, Jr. have been very active in the Sandpoint community and were involved in the original development of Westwood Village on the Pend Oreille River west of Sandpoint, consisting of condominiums and land development for Westwood Terrace and Westwood Square. Their energy and efforts contributed significantly to the Bonner County Museum construction project and to which they donated many family artifacts. Susan was Chairman of the museum's main fundraiser for the Annual Arts and Crafts Festival for some 8 years. She assisted in the development at Bottle Bay, known as Sourdough. Together, Susan and Bud were instrumental in the establishment of one of Idaho's first independent state banks, Panhandle State Bank.
